"Going to Extreme " Chapter 1 "Oh, he's just too adorable." Relena squealed
as she stared down at the child in the crib. "Hello little handsome."
She cooed and reached inside to pick him up. Nion smiled warmly as
she watched Relena hold her son protectively. It was Rei's first birthday
party. Aside from Relena, Dorothy, the ex Gundam pilots, and a few
Preventers showed up to celebrate. With it being a late hour, the
party thinned considerably, leaving barely a handful of people left.
"Well Miss. Relena, you have a knack with children."
Relena looked up at this comment. "That's because little Rei knows I'm his aunt,
don't you Rei?" As she spoke, she held him closer into a hug.
"You are just so precious." "So have you and Dorothy decided anything yet?"
"We're still talking, but if we go ahead with it,
then we've already chosen a facility." "And a donor?" "It'll take a long while before finding one."
"One might be easier than you think to find."
Confusion washed over Relena's features, and for the first time, her
eyes tore completely from the baby in her arms. "What do you mean?" Nion didn't answer, she
only stared toward the opposite side of the room, where Zechs, Heero
and Duo were talking. Relena followed her gaze to the three men, and
turned red. At the same time, Heero covered his mouth to block a sneeze.
"I couldn't ask him. There's no way he would. Aside,
he's. . .he's not exactly fatherly material." "That's a little uncharacteristic. You use to think
the world of him." "I did, but then I realized that it was just a
silly dream. Aside, Dorothy has helped me come to realize who and
what I am; and I love her for that." As she finished talking,
Dorothy approached. "It's getting late Relena, and we have an early
flight to catch." Relena nodded and laid Rei back in his crib.
She thanked Nion for inviting her. After a brief goodnight to her
brother, and the remaining guest, they headed upstairs. The birthday
party was taking place in a hotel near Zechs and Nion's home. Seeing
how most of their guests would be flying in for the event, they chose
a hotel close to the airport. This made travel far easier for everyone,
and provided rooms as well. After retreating to their room, Dorothy took a quick
hot shower. Relena followed soon after. Dorothy sighed and set the
brush in front of her. Pushing her wet hair behind her, she looked
up in time for Relena to enter the room. A sly smirk pulled Dorothy's
lips as Relena exhaustedly plopped onto the foot of the bed. Still
smiling, Dorothy crawled over to her and slipped her arms around Relena's
waist. "That was the longest party I've ever attended."
Dorothy teased. "Your brother sure knows how to drag events to
their limits." "Well, you can't truly blame him Dorothy, he was
proudly showing off my new nephew." "Hn." Dorothy shrugged and rested her chin
on Relena's shoulder. "I suppose. After all, he and Miss. Nion
have been trying for three years now. Who would have thought that
the Peacecrafts would have such a hard time producing heirs? Let's
only hope that the princess doesn't have as much turbulence as the
prince." "Dorothy." Relena blushed deeply. The couple
have been talking about having a baby for several months at this point.
Seeing Relena with her nephew tonight was definitely the deal being
sealed. Dorothy could tell that the instant baby Rei was in her arms
that Relena's mind decided that she definitely wanted one of her own.
"Don't try to shy away. I seen how you act around
Rei." Dorothy giggled. "Now, we just have to decide who
we want to father your child. After all, we can't have our little
prince be a part of just anyone." Instantly, Heero came to mind,
but Relena pushed it away just as quickly. There was no way he would
agree to something like that. "We want someone intelligent." "And handsome." Relena laughed and lightly
pushed against Dorothy. "Someone that we know, without a doubt, doesn't
have a drinking or drug problem." "Someone strong. . .and at tonight's party." Relena pulled away swiftly to stare into Dorothy's face. "We both know who you want to father your child, and I think it's a grand ideal. Not only does he match all the qualities we could ever list, he won't want anything to do with the child after the birth, diminishing any and all future conflicts." Relena blinked a couple of times, surprised that Dorothy would say such a thing. "We're both thinking the same exact person, so why not just come out and say it?"
"Did I hurt you?" Heero questioned softly
into Trowa's ear as he rested his forehead into the hallow of Trowa's
neck. "No." "You'd tell me if I did." "Yes." Trowa lightly ran his fingers through
Heero's wet hair. Though he was reluctant to attend Zech's unveiling
of his new son, he came along because Heero wanted. Suddenly, Trowa
chuckled softly. "What?" "I was just thinking. . .is this Peacecraft going
to become obsessed with you too?" "If I wasn't so exhausted right now, I'd hit you."
"Why did you think I made the comment now?"
His answer was a quick sneeze. "Are you sure you're not getting
sick?" "I'm not sick." Heero snapped and rolled off
Trowa to his side of the bed. "You've been sneezing since we left the party."
"I'm fine Trowa. Nothing to-to-achoo-worry about.
. . ." "Maybe someone's talking about you. . .like Relena."
"Hey! It's too late for that, so don't start." Trowa snickered to himself. ~ * ~
